A New Birth...

What’s the point of another blog? Well, for starters I love writing, and for me that’s purpose enough. Beyond that, I have a story to tell. It’s a story of being laid low with late-onset bipolar disorder in my mid-thirties, being so ill that I had to give up work and be in and out of hospital several times.

What saved me was my writing, or to put it more precisely, my screenwriting. It gave me purpose and a structure to my day; and eventually it brought me comparative success as I became sufficiently adept at my writing to have one of my scripts optioned by a producer. And as I write it looks very much as if the film is going to be made.

So, this blog will comprise my reflections on my successes and adversities, with particular emphasis on mental health, screenwriting and movies in general. It will track the progress of my film as it progresses to production, and also the development of my “success and adversity autobiography” which I will write in conjunction with this blog.

Success is possible out of adversity. And I live to tell the tale.
